红色的拂子。相传为隋唐时的女侠，姓张，名出尘，是隋末权相杨素的侍妓。时天下方乱，李靖以布衣谒素献策骋辩。杨素姬妾中有一执红拂者，貌美而瞩目靖。其夜靖归旅舍，出尘奔之，乃与俱适太原。前蜀杜光庭《虬髯客传》、明张凤翼《红拂记》均载其事。后即以红拂为妇女中能识英雄的典型人物。唐杜光庭传奇小说《虬髯客传》中的人物。为隋代名妓，姓张，名出尘。本隋相杨素之侍妓，后遇李靖，识为英雄，遂与李靖同赴太原。明张凤翼加以敷演，撰有《红拂记》。
