释义	澄觀 chéng guān唐代一位高僧的法号。西元738～839俗姓夏侯，越州山阴今浙江绍兴人。十一岁依宝林寺霈禅师出家。二十一岁受具足戒后，到处参学，于戒律、天台、华严、南北禅法无不钻研，而归心于华严，以中兴华严宗为己任，为华严宗四祖。他吸收了天台和禅宗的思想，致力推动禅教一致的思想，对中唐以后的佛教影响颇深。弟子有一百余人，著名的有宗密、僧睿、法宝等。赐号「清凉国师」。著作弘富，有《大方广佛华严经疏》二十卷，《大方广佛华严经随疏演义钞》九十卷等。
