释义	孤獨園 gū dú yuán古时收养无人赡养的老人和孤儿的机构。印度佛教圣地之一，是祇树给孤独园的简称。相传释尊成道之后，憍萨国的长者给孤独，用大量黄金购得波斯匿王太子祇陀在舍卫城南花园的地皮，建精舍，供释尊居住、说法的场所。因这座精舍的树木是祇陀太子供养佛陀，故合二人名字命名。是佛教最早的两大精舍之一。也称为「祇园」、「祇园精舍」。梁武帝时，设置抚恤孤儿、老人的场所。二年春正月辛巳，祀南郊，诏置孤独园以恤孤幼。《南史．卷七．梁武帝本纪下》孤独园
